Sketch Club

Sorry for the ignorance, but I don’t know who does or maintains this cool blog: Sketch Club, though the info they provide is pretty clear about what they do:

After lunch, Sketch Club identifies a person of interest, usually for their unique or distinct characteristics. The subject is briefly studied without drawing. Once back from lunch and back at the drawing board, the subject is drawn from memory.

I say they, because it seems it’s several people contributing to the blog, as the signatures in the sketches are different. Anyway, it’s a cool blog to visit and subscribe, though it doesn’t seem to be updated very often.

Paper forest, great blog

Paper forest is a great blog for everything related to art where paper is the main material. As the creator of the blog puts it:

My objective on this blog has been to post any and all paper automata (my favorite topic to post), other interesting paper projects, and innovative paper art that doesn’t necessarily fit the standard mold.

So, why are you still here?

Illustration class: tutorials

Illustrator class is a site where you can find some great tutorials for illustration, created and maintained by Von “Vonster” Glitschka (awesome illustrator).

I’m telling you, you’ll find sweet tutorials there. The one that guides you through the image you see in this post is for a tshirt design, and you’ll be able to go through more than 40 tutorials just like that.

After that, I think it’d be good if you go check out his personal art blog: Art Backwash, you won’t regret it.

Armand Serrano

A he puts it himself: “Armand Serrano is a Feature Animation Visual Development Artist and Layout Journeyman”. To prove it, just go to his gallery and check out his work. As you’ll see, he’s done work for some known Disney movies, and he’s currently working on Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs slated for 2009 (Sony Pictures Animation).

Funny cute, Katie Rice’s blog

You can clearly see the influence of John Kricfalusi in Katie’s style. The title of her blog actually defines her artwork pretty well: funny and cute. What can I say? me likes it :)

It’s a shame that she apparently gave up blogging, as mentioned in her blog, but at least she’s keeping it up so we can see her awesome drawings. So, go check it out!

Fiona Staples characters

Check out some of the cool artwork of Fiona Staples, at her portfolio page, though I suggest you better visit her blog, constantly updated with some illustrations of hers, specially of character design. Pretty cool

Oh, almost forgot it, the link to her blog is goog-lucky.net

Cal Slayton

Illustrator and designer, check out his portfolio site, then go read his blog (I just love how so many illustrators now have their own blogs, where you could get to know about their experiences, and creative process).

Anyway, I bet you’ll like this site. Very contemporary cartoony style, kind of simple, but elegant (gee, I sound like a fashion critic) :)

Weberson Santiago

Another interesting blog from another talented illustrator. He’s Weberson Santiago, from Brazil. He’s got a nice, playful style. His drawings kind of remind me the books I used to have when I was a kid.

Anyway, I suggest you go visit his blog, which has another nice detail. Whenever he adds a new picture of him, he also adds a couple of links of some other cool artists’ sites like Imaginozoide, base-v, and Mariana Massarani

My little crockpot

Not much to say, my little crockpot is the personal blog of Jared Chapman, young artist living at Austin Texas. You’ll see some cool illustration, and his thoughts about everything. You may also want to check out his illustrations or his animation demo reel

Martin Abel and his pinup girls

Well, I know, I’m a complete ignorant about the illustrators and cartoonists world. I am, but I love the work of a talented artist.

So, I tried to look for info about Martin Abel, and I didn’t find anything. Well, there’s his website, where you can see some nice pinup girl illustrations, and some other samples of his work. What can I say: sexy! (infact, too sexy, if you visit his gallery, be warned that there’s some nudity and adult illustrations). But, there’s no info loading for his “about section”. Sad :(

Although, if you want to meet the guy, he’s got a myspace account (click here). Anyway, he’s got a cute cool hot sexy style. His drawings are pretty awesome (well, what can I say, drawings of girls with tight clothes, what did you expect).

So, give it a try, go visit his site, and check out his gallery
